Principles of Integrity & Journalism
Our mission is to document the future. To do so correctly, our integrity must remain uncompromised.
1. Independence
Bali Alpha's first loyalty is to citizens and readers. Our editorial independence is non-negotiable. Coverage decisions are made solely based on newsworthiness, not based on the interests of advertisers, investors, or external pressures. We do not accept payment for news coverage (no pay-for-play).
2. Conflict of Interest
Transparency is key. Every Bali Alpha writer and editor is required to disclose potential financial or personal conflicts of interest related to the subjects they cover. If a conflict cannot be avoided, it will be clearly disclosed in the article or the writer will be recused from that coverage.
3. Verification & Sourcing
We prioritize primary and on-the-record sources. The use of anonymous sources is permitted only if:
- The information is vital to the public interest.
- The information cannot be obtained by other means.
- The source faces real risk if their identity is revealed.
We always verify information from social media or third parties before publishing it.
4. Fairness & Balance
We are committed to fair coverage. This means actively seeking comment from parties criticized or accused in our reporting before publication, giving them a reasonable opportunity to respond.
5. Privacy & Empathy
While we are committed to the truth, we also respect individual privacy. We balance the public's right to know with the potential harm or pain that reporting might cause, especially for victims of tragedy or private figures.
